GNGWC 2009 Shows the Strength of Korean Online Games

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA–(Marketwire – December 10, 2009) - Online gamers from across the world all turned their attention to BEXCO, Busan on November 29 where the Grand Final of online game competition GNGWC 2009 (Game&Game World Championship) was in progress.

The Grand Final was hosted as the main event of G*STAR 2009 for 3 days from ovember 26 and it singled out the world champions of 3 Korean games,”Silkroad Online,” “Shot Online” and “Atlantica.”

The final winners of “Silkroad Online” were André Gernot Weck and Alexander Dolderer from Germany, and “Won Cheol Cho” from Korea won “Shot Online” for 2 consecutive years after playing into an extended game. The championship cup of “Atlantica” went to Robin Swan from the USA. Each winner won USD5000.

GNGWC 2009 started with European Regional Finals in Leipzig, Germany in July and continued to Regional Finals in 11 nations including the USA,Brazil, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and China, and 50 contestants who had passed the Regional rounds attended the Grand Finals. GNGWC met its 4th year in 2009 and showed that it had grown into a grand international
tournament both in name and in practice over the years.

Moreover, the fact that the tournament comprised only Korean games, “Silk Online,” “Shot Online” and “Atlantica,” confirmed the superiority of Korean online games.

Atlantica Online, players got a new map today. Adventurers are invited to join up to eight other players in a trek through Coyote’s Valley to thwart the dastardly plans of the forces against nature in this new “Call of the Wild” patch. Ndoors also introduces an all-new mercenary – Raging Wind, the boy druid – which players at level 100 and above can recruit to defend the tribe against the wave of invading forces.

Atlantica Online combines innovative combat with profound character and party development, as well as city and country management. Players take on the physically and mentally demanding quest to destroy the Oriharukon, a powerful energy source from the lost civilization of Atlantis. This dangerous element survived the demise of the “Lost City,” and its rampant spread is quickly endangering humanity. The epic journey takes players to some of the most historic and exotic locations around the globe, where they will come face-to-face with vicious monsters ripped from history and lore.

MMORPG Atlantica Lite released

NDoors Interactive today announced the release of Atlantica’s “Lite” client. The client is only around 700mb and offers enough content for players to build their characters up until level 20. This lite version can be downloaded by new players of the award-winning turn-based MMORPG and play the game while the client downloads the full version in the background. This gives players a chance to instantly experience the hype of Atlantica Online with less the downloading wait times.

To access the game beyond level 20 requires the full version of the game. I’m sure, by then, the lite version has already completed the full client download.

Atlantica Gets So-Called Stimulus Package

Ndoors Interactive today announced the start of the “Stimulus Package” reward program for Atlantica Online, the strategic, turn-based MMORPG. From October 14 to November 21, dedicated players can qualify for weekly Gcoin giveaways as their friends sign up and join them on their quest to find Atlantis and destroy the Oriharukon.

Both referring and referred players must fulfill specific tasks to qualify for the giveaway, from filling up their mercenary slots to leveling up their characters. Features within the game will notify players of their status, as well as indicate the remaining time in the event. Players who qualify will be awarded Gcoin prizes every Friday, and the top referrers will be entered for a chance to win an unreleased, ultra rare cash shop item.

Level-cap increased, new mercenary class

Atlantica Online, one of the leading F2P MMORPGs, has announced an increase in the level-cap from 120 to 130, in addition to a new mercenary, Minstrel Paganini, and two new dungeons.

Arriving on the heels of Hwarang, a mercenary released last month, Paganini is balanced for both offensive and defensive roles and is especially useful against saw-type mercenaries.

Based around the works of Vincent Van Hogh, one of the new dungeons will lead players into living versions of his paintings, to battle ’surreal’ monsters and ultimately discover the source of the famed painter’s insanity. For doing so, players will be awarded the new set of Dragon God armor, equipment that will grant ‘unique abilities’.

The second dungeon, Palace of Night, is ruled by three sub-bosses, each with its own different strategy. Details of the quests surrounding the dungeon and the story behind them have yet to be released, though the difficulty of the three new bosses has been touted as being for ‘experienced players’ only.

Alongside the level-cap being increased from 120 to 130, the magic level max has been raised to 70 and the crafting level max to 120. Atlas Ore has been replaced with Oriharukon Enhance Stones which, quoting a recent press release, “… promises to do everything Oriharukon does and more!”

Ndoors Interactive announced today that with their upcoming update, the level cap for their strategic MMORPG Atlantica Online will increase from 120 to 130. As players strive towards this goal, they’ll have a variety of new content at their fingertips, including a new mercenary class and two new dungeons to explore. Additionally, the game is receiving new equipment and an updated craft system. The universe of Atlantica Online continues to expand, upholding the game’s status as the best-reviewed free-to-play online game of the year.

Minstrel Paganini is the second of Atlantica Online’s three new mercenaries, following last month’s Hwarang. Paganini is the first mercenary who can use any type of instrument found in the game. She seeks to avenge her parents, who were cruelly murdered by gangsters, and reclaim their box of keepsakes. While she is a balanced offensive and defensive character, her ability to counter saw-type mercenaries makes her invaluable to the party.

Players who explore the new Vincent Van Gogh dungeon will enter living paintings based on the master artist’s work. While battling surreal monsters, players will discover the source of Van Gogh’s ultimate madness. As a reward for their conquest, the new set of Dragon God’s equipment will grant unique abilities. Experienced players can also seek out the Palace of Night dungeon with its three powerful rulers. Here, players must team up and use both strategy and courage to take down the sub-bosses and clear this challenging dungeon.

In addition to the new content, Atlantica Online will receive an increased magic level cap (70) and crafting level cap (120). A new Equipment Analysis System lets gamers multiply their crafting experience. Finally, Atlas Ore will be replacing Oriharukon Enhance Stones, which promises to do everything Oriharukon does and more!

NDOORS Atlantica enters European market

NDOORS participated in GCO 2009, held at a convention center in Leipzig, Germany, for 3 days from July 31, and officially announced the launch of Atlantica in Europe at a press conference with major European companies in attendance.

NDOORS, which had long been interested in Europe’s emerging online-game market, made the decision after a thorough research and analysis of the European market. It disseminated the superiority of Atlantica game to European users at GCO and it plans to complete local work in the near future and conduct a closed test.

In addition to this, GCO hosted “GNGWC 2009 Atlantica European Finals,” during which European representatives were selected to compete in “GNGWC 2009 Grand Finals,” which will take place in Korea. 16 gamers who had passed the preliminary round competed fiercely for 2 tickets to the finals.

Atlantica needs momentum boost

Back in 2006, the notion of Atlantica appeared to be picking up steam and converts. But it now appears the regional trade movement has lost momentum. That is unfortunate.

Atlantica, a cross-border trading bloc that would include the Atlantic provinces, parts of Quebec and Ontario, and northeastern states down to New York, could greatly benefit the New Brunswick economy – as well as the economies of all the other players.

Regrettably, one of the self-described architects of Atlantica says the idea is not catching fire in the New England business community. Maine businessman Perry Newman says a good portion of the U.S. east coast hasn’t been convinced to look north for new opportunities.

While many in Atlantic Canada have embraced the Atlantica concept, the benefits need to be better articulated to those stateside.

New England business leaders must be convinced that eastern Canada holds opportunities similar to Boston, New York and other major markets in the U.S.

New Brunswick communities and companies, along with their cousins throughout Atlantic Canada and the eastern U.S., will benefit from the creation of larger trade corridor along the eastern seaboard. Those who dismiss the idea aren’t seeing the big picture. The notion cannot be allowed to fizzle. Skeptics need to be shown that everyone in the region can benefit from greater connections and cooperation.

Selling the potential of Atlantica rests largely with the business community.

The opportunity for advancement is there, if business leaders are prepared to seize it.
