leveling new mercs with quests

is there a cap on how much xp a new merc can get from a quest reward? or a level 1 merc can get 300k xp from high level quests?
i remember seeing someone’s post where someone didnt get all quest reward xp and he thought there was a cap of some sort. i cant seem to find that thread though…

Because you still need her to be in a fight to get levels? She doesn’t instantly levels once on the quest. You need to use the other exp in a fight.

Not trying to sound rude with this, but i dont think the point is being understood. I hired a lvl 1 oracle, 0 XP. i turned in 1 quest for 800k XP, so now she’s lvl 2. I turned in a second quest for 550k XP, she’s lvl 3. A 3rd quest for 500k XP, she’s lvl 4. a 4th quest for 250k XP, she’s lvl 5.

At this point, i’d expect her to be lvl 5 with 2.1m XP from the quests, allowing me to then LDP/spam XP books to level her up. Instead, she was lvl 5 with 650k XP. If the very first quest i turned in was worth 800k XP, how does her total XP end up less than that, unless it’s being capped somehow?

Still cant complain too much, getting her to lvl 40 in 5 minutes is still pretty good, im just curious on where the rest of the XP went, if it isnt capped?

richard your observations are correct, there *is* an exp cap on quest rewards dependent on the mercs level, no we do not know the mechanics of it but the observation is correct that it occurs only on the large exp quests (read as non repeatable large bonuses like aztec/lijiang/etc), however the best way to avoid this is levelling the merc up through resettable quests such as constantinople ones (gaius/fausta/murat/mustafa) for numerous low exp rewards to bump it up, and then giving it the big prize quests once its level is respectable
